ABOUT US

Bludotone Amp Works is an intentionally small company in Littleton Colorado founded by Brandon Montgomery in 2004 with a singular goal in mind: To deliver a guitar amplifier that sounds as good as the one in your head does.

WHY BLUDOTONE?

BUILT WITH INTENTION

Let’s face it, most companies are in it for the money. Of course, we have to keep the lights on, so we do make money, however, the focus here has always been legacy, and making the finest guitar amplifiers the world has ever seen.

BUILT WITH THE BEST AVAILABLE PARTS AND MATERIALS

We use 1/8″ thick welded aluminum chassis, industrially power-coated, and epoxy screen printed using the same type of ink used on outdoor gas pumps.

We use:

  • CTS Potentiometers
  • Vishay resistors
  • CDE capacitors
  • F&T capacitors
  • Nichicon capacitors
  • Panasonic capacitors
  • KOA/SPEER resistors
  • Heyboer transformers

As well as many other parts that we have custom made to our exacting specifications.

THE TONE YOU HAVE ALWAYS

DREAMED OF

With my 20 years of experience and some 800ish amplifiers under my belt, I can offer you real world experience with this type of amplifier that no other living builder can. All it takes is plugging in and playing one, and you will understand why people are willing to wait for these.

As well as building these types of amplifiers, Brandon also has vast experience servicing original vintage amplifiers of this type, and may have very well worked on your favorite guitar player’s valuable vintage amplifier at one point. (37 originals at the time of writing).

UNSURPASSED BUILD QUALITY

Bludotone amplifiers are painstakingly built. These amplifiers take a long time to build because we do things that most other manufacturers do not bother with.

The inside, that most people never see, is where the true beauty of the Bludotone lies.

Every wire placed with intention, every group of wire bound for security and vibration resistance, every capacitor glued down to both increase it’s working lifespan and improve the tone. Every component tested before it goes into the amplifier, and every amplifier tweaked and perfected after it is built before it goes in the box.
